Questions we hear
Why is my garage door opener clicking but not opening?
A click with no movement often points to a failing circuit board or relay, but it can also mean the door is locked or too heavy for the opener because a spring has broken. Check that the door's manual lock isn't engaged. If the door looks crooked or you heard a bang earlier, leave it alone and call us.
Why does my garage door go back up before it closes?
The photo-eye sensors are the usual cause. Dirty lenses, a sensor knocked out of line or something in the beam will send the door back up, so wipe the lenses and make sure both indicator lights are steady. If that doesn't fix it, the force or travel settings may need adjusting.
Why did my garage door remote stop working?
Start with a fresh battery, then check that the lock button on the wall control isn't on. Some LED bulbs in the opener can interfere with remote signals too. If the remote still won't work, it may need reprogramming or replacing.
Why does my garage door opener run but the door doesn't move?
The opener may be disconnected from the door, which happens when the manual release has been pulled. It can also mean a stripped gear or a broken chain or belt. Reconnect the release only with the door fully closed, and if the motor hums without moving anything, call us.
Is it worth repairing an old garage door opener?
Often it is. Many openers can be brought back with a gear, board or sensor from the truck. If parts are no longer available or the opener lacks modern safety features, a new opener is the better investment, and we'll explain why.
Why won't my garage door opener work in cold weather?
Cold thickens lubricant and stiffens the door, so the opener has to work harder and may stop or reverse. Worn springs and frozen bottom seals add to the load. A tune-up and a force check usually sort it out, but don't raise the force settings yourself to push through it.
