Around Frankfort
Harbor-town homes and Lake Michigan cottages
Frankfort is a harbor town on Betsie Bay, where the Betsie River meets Lake Michigan, with Elberta just across the water. Homes near the beach and on the hills above town face Lake Michigan weather head on. Wind-driven snow and cold find every gap in a garage door, so the seals along the bottom, sides and top matter here more than in sheltered spots.
North on M-22 past Point Betsie Lighthouse, and east toward Crystal Lake, the housing turns to cottages and summer homes, many closed for the winter. A door that sits all winter near the lakeshore can come back with rusty hardware and a spring that broke while no one was around.
In town, older houses often have detached garages with doors that have seen decades of Lake Michigan weather. We repair sections, tracks and hardware when the door is sound, and quote a new Haas Door or Safe-Way Door free when it is not.
